Greetings, Readers,
I trust this note finds you well. I wanted to share a quick update on recent endeavours.
The second edition of "The Farmer and the Fald" has quietly undergone its final evolution. It’s taken just shy of a year to complete, far longer than the naive ‘couple of weeks’ I promised my girlfriend one long, moneyless year ago. But, and this is the good part, it’s finished. All done and dusted. The ending has found its new rhythm, the lore lingers with a few added nuances, and the tale now weaves a little tighter and explores its themes a little deeper. The word count has risen quite steeply, going from 90,000 words to just over 120,000 words. Should you revisit, you may catch these subtle and not-so-subtle changes.
If not, well, that's fine too.
Other happy news—A recent illustration commission has found its way from imagination to paper (digital paper made from glass and pixels). It's the first piece of a new project in progress. I’m very happy with the first image, and I look forward to sharing more information on this project as and when the time comes.
But for now, here’s what I’ve done so far. I can’t say too much, but her name is Eurezhana.
It was a pleasure drawing her, she was a great practice piece, developing skin shading techniques in particular and exploring this whole watercolour/pencil sketch aesthetic I’ve got going on.
One last thing I’d like to share: a few of my drawings are presently residing on the walls of my Exeter’s public library as part of their ongoing fantasy exhibition, and if you find yourself there, perhaps you'll spot them, my elves on shelves.
As always, your quiet presence and occasional nods in my direction are appreciated. There's a lot transpiring, but no need for any more grand announcements. I’ll allow the stories to speak for themselves.
Best wishes on your journey,
J R Leach
